SupertoothTM Total Tooth Care School Project Kit
Science based tooth care skill development
 * Supertooth Project in detail * Celery * More on tooth care * Supertooth colouring book

Almost all cavities occur where the brush cannot reach plaque or food between teeth and inside pits and fissures in grooves on chewing surfaces.

Although any brush and brushing skill at least once a day prevents cavities at gum margins, more or better brushing and flossing is needed to prevent gum disease and remove food particles that act as nuclei for calcium deposits at gum margins after eating.

The Supertooth school or home project helps teach the science and skills that prevent cavities, gum disease and stain deposits.

Please email me your interest in this project and note the simple things you can do till the project is available in schools.

Disposable dental foam strips make it easy and convenient to clean gum margins like a brush, between teeth like floss and inside grooves better than chewing gum, before eating to reduce plaque and after eating to remove food.

Foam strips also hygienically apply food dye to tooth surfaces showing plaque at gum margins and between teeth.
The teacher gives each student a foam strip to hold with the thumb onto the fore finger and then places a drop on the end to apply to top front teeth and see plaque in a mirror. They can then remove the plaque by rubbing the foam strip over the tooth surface under finger pressure. Then squeeze the foam between thumb and forefinger to pass between teeth and remove plaque.

Over 80% of cavities occur inside grooves on chewing surfaces where food is trapped each time we eat.

Chewing barium sulphate tablets before dental x-rays shows where food is trapped inside grooves while eating. It also shows that chewing certain sugarless foods or special tablets can seal grooves or pits and fissures before eating and help clean grooves after eating. Please contact me if you wish to participate in this project.

Chewing the dental foam after eating forces saliva around teeth and inside grooves helping remove food, neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth. Chewing celery after eating gives much the same effect.

What you can do to care for your teeth better....NOW. (Items 2 and 3 can be added to school lunches)

  1. Brush with fluoride toothpaste and floss before breakfast to reduce plaque as much as possible.
  2. Chew cheese before eating to seal grooves and help prevent food being trapped and changed to acid while eating.
  3. Chew celery string after eating to help saliva clean food from gum margins, between teeth and from inside grooves, neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth, so no food is left on teeth to cause bad breath, act as nuclei for calcium deposits, or stain teeth. Add a small bit of fluoride toothpaste so the chewy string forces a fluoride saliva mix inside grooves for stronger remineralisation.
  4. Brush with fluoride toothpaste and floss before bed to reduce plaque and allow fluoride time to work on tooth surfaces.
